Vacationing & On a Diet

Although diets can be planned as well as vacations, many times, the two collide. When a diet and a vacation collide, the dieter can still have a very enjoyable time.  Here are a few tips that might help if you are dieting and going on a vacation:

A vacation is a perfect time to enjoy available activities  - particularly if your vacation involves traveling.  Stopping in at state parks for a short hike, walking on the beach in the moonlight, dancing - even golf and fishing are great modes of exercise that will help burn calories.

Keep snacks at a minimum and place the focus on meal times.  This will not only save calories, it will keep your diet plan in check.

Skip the appetizers OR choose those without cheese and heavy sauces.  Avoid fried.

Try to make breakfast and lunch the two biggest meals of the day.  Dine early in the evening, if possible.

Keep in mind that a vacation only lasts a short while and you don't want to blow your diet due to a few reckless days of eating.

Keep your mind occupied with things other than food.

Try to rest a little while vacationing and keep stress to a minimum.  Even good stress is still stress.
