Diet Tips for Pudding Lovers

Over three decades ago, my doctor told me that people who tend to be overweight, tend to really love pudding for some reason.

On the other hand, it just seems to me that people who love pudding would be thinner rather than not because of all the recent news of how skimmed milk promotes and excels weight loss. But pudding is made from more than milk. It also contains a great deal of sugar.

Substituting sugar with the no calorie sugar substitutes can trim about 800 calories from any pudding recipe that calls for a cup of sugar.

Another great pudding tip is to substitute skimmed milk for whole milk.  In comparison, skimmed milk contains about half the calories as whole milk:

1 cup of whole milk contains about 160 calories
1 cup of skimmed milk contains about 80 calories

Some puddings taste fab when fruit is added.  Since fruit is naturally low in fat and calories, and is also bulky, it makes a great ingredient for those puddings that take fruit well.

For cooked versions of pudding requiring eggs, use an egg substitute product and save not only calories, but cholesterol.
