Eating Behavior & Weight GainThe manner in which we eat contributes to our size and to the number on our weight scales. Some of the factors that play into the Weight Gain Equation include:
When we eat late in the evenings - and particularly right before bedtime, the energy has no opportunity to be burned off and most always is stored in the fat cells. Activity levels help stabilize metabolism and burn calories. The types of foods that we eat is perhaps the most influencing factor in regards to what we weigh. Sodium introduces salt into the body which in turn holds in water weight. Too much sodium in the body will be reflected in pounds on the scales - sometimes for 3-4 days before it is released by the body in the form of water. Snacks add up, so I encourage healthy snacks. Parties, celebrations and other entertainment modes that we enjoy are perhaps the second biggest contributor to weight gain. Too much merriment, too many rich foods, too much fat, too many calories, and for the most part, we are so delirious bathing in the Pool of Merriment that we don't realize half of what we put inside ourselves - food, that is.
